Math: Ms. Shell
Blue Group
We will be wrapping up our chapter on addition, subtraction, and word problems this week. Students will focus on solving addition and subtraction word problems focusing on the action that is happening in the story. Students will learn that addition means we are oining or combining amounts. Subtraction is when we are separating or comparing amounts. We will also work on multi-step word problems that require both addition and subtraction. We will take a test on Thursday 10/29. Students have access to a study guide on Google Classroom. I am also linking it here.Â
Yellow Group
We will be wrapping up our chapter on understanding decimal place value. We will finish the chapter learning how to compare and order decimal amounts. We will focus on the idea that more digits, doesnt mean a larger number but rather the value of those digits! We will play some fun comparing decimal games to practice this skill. We will take a test on Thursday 10/29. Students have access to a study guide on Google Classroom. I am also linking it here.

Spanish: Ms. Crus
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
I’m excited to share how well our fourth graders have been doing with telling time in Spanish! This skill involves several steps, and we have been working through each one slowly and thoughtfully to give students time to practice, ask questions, and build confidence. I have been especially proud of their diligence and willingness to ask for clarification when something is unclear. They have embraced the challenge, and it has been wonderful to see them enjoying the learning process!
Our telling time test will be on Monday, November 16. While this is early notice, I wanted to give you plenty of time to plan and share how we will be preparing together.
Students began the attached study guide in class today. We will complete it together during our next class to ensure that students have correct answers to use when reviewing at home. In the classes leading up to the test, we will also work through a variety of practice activities to reinforce the material and help students feel prepared.
For at-home review, the best resources will be:
The completed study guide, which we will finish together next class.
The Blooket review, which I will post to Google Classroom next Monday.
There is no need to complete the unfinished portions of the study guide at home before our next class—we will work through those together. Once it is complete, brief review sessions with the guide and Blooket will be a helpful way to practice.
Most importantly, I want you to know how proud I am of this class. Telling time in another language takes patience and persistence, and our fourth graders have shown both. Their thoughtful questions and steady effort have made a real difference in their progress.
Thank you for your continued support! Please feel free to reach out with any questions:)
