Assessment, Reporting & Profiling

Annual Calendar

At Kemnay Primary School, our reporting practices align with the guidelines set forth in Building the Curriculum 5, 'Recognising achievement, Reporting and Profiling,' as well as the National Improvement Framework.

We offer:

Our goal is to furnish a diverse array of visual, oral, and written information, coupled with meaningful dialogue, to offer parents a holistic understanding of their child's learning journey and development.

STUDENT SUMMARY REPORTS

At Kemnay Primary School, our Student Reports complement the profiling on Just 2 Easy in reporting a child's progress to you, the parents or carers.

The Student Reports are issued once a year in term 4 and the curricular areas reported on are Literacy, Numeracy & Health and Wellbeing. The report indicates the Curriculum for Excellence level the child is expected to be working at:

Progress Codes

AP: Appropriate Progress.  This means that the pupil is working outwith educational norms but are making appropriate progress based on their needs.  For example a child with English as a second language.

RS: Receiving Support.  This means that the pupil requires support to maintain progress towards achieving the expected level appropriate for their age and stage.

OT: On Track.  This means they are exactly where we expect the pupil to be at this stage in their academic journey.

EE: Exceeding Expectations.  This means the child is making advanced progress through their age and stage appropriate level and may be given advanced work to achieve ealier than expected.

Please note that when pupils are going from the end of Early level (P1), to the beginning of First level (P2), or from the end of First level (P4), to the beginning of Second level (P5), the pupil's first report at the new level may not have them working at the "expected" level. That makes sense as the pupil is just at the beginning of a new level, so please do not be alarmed by this.

It's crucial to understand that the Curriculum for Excellence operates dynamically, and learning is not a straightforward, linear process. Your child will progress at their unique pace, and the report outlines their development in relation to the national level.

At Kemnay Primary School, we highly appreciate the role parents play in their child's education and eagerly invite any feedback you may have regarding your child's learning over the year. This feedback can be part of the discussions during Parent’s evening. In the event of receiving a Student Report and having immediate concerns or questions, we strongly encourage you not to hesitate and reach out to the school office. Your input is valuable to us!

PARENTS EVENING

Parents Evening is a vital component of our school calendar, occurring twice annually. The initial session, during the Autumn term, serves to update parents on how their child is adapting to the new class. It also provides an opportunity for parents/carers to meet their child’s teacher, fostering a connection.

The second Parents Evening takes place in the fourth term and offers a chance for parents to touch base with the teacher regarding their child's ongoing progress. This session is particularly beneficial for addressing any queries arising from the annual report.
