We are a non-denominational school that embraces a diverse community comprising children and staff from various faith backgrounds, as well as those with no religious affiliation. Our ethos revolves around fostering understanding and tolerance for all faiths and individuals without religious beliefs.
Kemnay School and Nursery comprehensively address experiences and outcomes across Early, First, and Second levels.
The primary focus areas within this curriculum include:
- Christianity
- Selected World Religions for study
- Development of Beliefs and Values
While some learning experiences are integrated into interdisciplinary thematic topics, certain aspects are taught separately. The school and classes capitalize on seasonal religious celebrations, utilizing the cultural and religious diversity of the pupils as valuable learning opportunities to promote knowledge, tolerance, and understanding of various belief systems.
Parents have the legal right to withdraw their children from religious observance or religious education. To exercise this option, parents are encouraged to arrange a meeting with the headteacher to discuss the Religious and Moral Education (RMEd) program before making an informed decision. In cases where a child is withdrawn from religious observance, arrangements are made for them to join another class during the lesson, if possible.
