Health & Wellbeing
At Kemnay Primary School, we prioritise the well-being of our students, considering it a fundamental aspect of our educational philosophy. Our Health and Wellbeing curriculum is designed to impart knowledge to your child across various dimensions, including mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being. It encompasses essential topics such as planning for choices and changes, physical education, activity and sport, food and health, substance misuse, as well as relationships and sexual health.
The overarching aim of our health and wellbeing focus is to ensure that each child and young person feels both cared for and valued as an individual. By engaging in this curriculum, students not only acquire a comprehensive understanding of health-related topics but also develop the resilience to navigate life's uncertainties. This educational approach nurtures confidence, encouraging students to embrace new experiences and seize opportunities for personal growth that may come their way.

RELATIONSHIPS, SEXUAL HEALTH AND PARENTHOOD
At Kemnay Primary School, we use a national resource - http://rshp.scot/ - developed through collaboration among local authorities, health boards, Education Scotland, and the Scottish Government. This resource, known as Relationships, Sexual Health, and Parenthood (RSHP), was created in response to the identified need for modernising RSHP education, as recommended by the Scottish Parliament’s Education and Skills Committee in their report 'Let’s Talk about Personal and Social Education'.
We have tailored the RSHP resource to ensure quality, relevance, and consistency, reflecting our inclusive school culture that values and respects the human rights of everyone. At Kemnay PS, we take pride in delivering RSHP education that aims to safeguard children and young people, providing age and stage-appropriate information and supporting them in understanding that friendships and personal relationships should be healthy, happy, and safe.
As part of our approach, parents/carers will receive advance knowledge of RSHP topics and lessons, ensuring transparency and enabling them to support their child's learning effectively.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)
At Kemnay PS, our Physical Education (PE) curriculum is designed to be both progressive and cohesive, ensuring continuity of learning across all stages. This progression incorporates a variety of sports, providing students with abundant opportunities to cultivate a diverse set of physical and mental skills.
In addition to physical development, our PE program emphasises the promotion of essential life skills such as communication, respect, tolerance, strategic thinking, and problem-solving. By integrating these skills into our PE curriculum, we aim to enhance students' overall wellbeing, aligning with our broader health and wellbeing curriculum.

Food & Nutrition
Our goal is to empower students with the necessary tools to make balanced decisions regarding food and beverages, in accordance with current dietary guidelines. Through targeted food and health experiences, we aim to equip our children with the skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to adopt and maintain healthy eating habits throughout their lives.
