I apply the arts to practically every aspect of my life. I work at the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Virginia, where I create metadata to facilitate access to our collections for the public and for researchers around the globe. In my free time, I often play piano, trumpet, and/or sing, and I also create cosplays of some of my favorite characters, all of which were skills honed by a VPA curriculum.
My education at Miller South encouraged me to be creative and to normalize thinking outside the box which is imperative not only in everyday life but especially in the library and archival profession. Had it not been for exploratory classes at MS, I would probably never have delved so heavily into other artistic endeavors that make me who I am today. I will be forever grateful to the dedicated and passionate faculty and staff for all the opportunities given to me in my five years there.
