What are the current controversies within your country? What are the current political, social, and/or economic problems there? Select one or two and tie those issues to an Enlightenment Thinker.

BBC Country Profiles - No longer updated.

CIA World Factbook - Pull down on the "Please Select a Country to View" to discover current Economy, Government, Military, Transnational Issues, etc. for that country.

U.S. State Department - This site focuses more on the U.S. relations with this country, rather than the country's national issues alone, but it does include some current issues within the country. Click on "Countries and Areas" at the top, search for your country and then click "View Factsheet."

Wikipedia - A good place to start for basic country information. Look for current, domestic issues that might be discussed within the comprehensive entry.

CultureGrams - A database of history and current culture information, including economy, politics, education, etc. A notable category is "General Attitudes" in the "People" section and also the "Society" section.

ABC-Clio World History Database - A history database featuring shorter, hyperlinked encyclopedia articles, written by ABC-Clio staff. In addition to these articles, you'll find media and primary sources. The basic entry on your country will have history, but scroll down to the bottom for current situation or type in "politics" or "government" or "education" to get more specific entries on those topics within your country.

Britannica via KCLS - Click "Middle, High School Students & College Students > Need Sources for Your Paper or Project > Scroll to Britannica Online. Login with your 417+student number and the last four digits of your student number. There are entries for all of your countries.

Extra: Looking for more advanced content? Go to World History in Context. This comprehensive database (collects information from books, reference articles, news articles.... 1000's of hits) takes more time to search, but is great for additional detail.
