Use colon* (means a wild card for all letters past the colon...) to search for terms like colonial, colony, colonizer, etc. in some of the databases. For others, you'll need to type in colonialism, or colony or colonizer... etc. to get relevant articles for this research.

ABC-Clio World History Database - A history database featuring shorter, hyperlinked encyclopedia articles, written by ABC-Clio staff. In addition to these articles, you'll find media and primary sources.
World History in Context Database - A comprehensive database that gathers published information from reference books, magazines and news publications, academic journals and includes primary sources like videos, images, and audio. (WHiC doesn't like the wildcard search).

A great title is Colonialism : an international, social, cultural, and political encyclopedia! Contains over six hundred alphabetically arranged entries that provide information on the politics, economics, culture, and society of countries that have been influenced by colonialism, with maps and chronologies of colonial powers, and reproductions of original documents.
