Fill out this form as you research, and put your sources in Noodletools (tile in Clever) - Join Teacher Inbox> "Little Country Research p.5"
The Goal: Search for information on a Country and later add your search terms (example: China conception of beauty, or Chile conception of justice, etc.) In the end, try to focus on at least 5 of the topics below the surface on the Iceberg image... Get help from teachers with search terms!
Search Terms Example: Courtship - you could also search dating, marriage, family relationships, etc.
Use Databases (Open Clever, then click IHS Library Databases) Using the Databases and eBooks from home or on your own non-school-provided device? View the Digital Resources Logins and Passwords page. You'll need to sign in with your @apps to view.
Open GIC High School - Search Country Name and open Reference results - Look for Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life etc. In this book, it's best to search for the country name first, and then the main article will have sections on the right where you can refine your search.
2. Britannica via KCLS - Click "Middle and High School Students > Scroll to "Need Sources Such as Databases..." > Britannica Online. Login with 417+student number, password = the last four digits of your student number. Choose Reference Center for the most complete article on your country. Use the search to find the reference article for your country. It's usually the top hit.
-Click on Table of Contents to expand sections most relevant for your five "iceberg" topics. The cite button is the checkbox up in the tools.
3. KCLS CultureGrams - Access this KCLS-provided database via the same directions as Britannica above. Search for your country and then scroll down the navigation on the left to the section(s), such as Customs, Courtesies, General Attitudes, Lifestyle, Religion, Education etc. most relevant for you. The Generate Citation button is at the bottom of the main article. Click MLA 9 and copy/paste into your Noodletools.
4. Advanced Google Search - example: India education site:edu, or brazil concept of beauty site:edu or brazil dating culture site:edu
(this will return mostly college/university results)
Use High Quality, Reliable, Expert-written Free Websites such as:
