DRAW Category: Extemporaneous PROSE (30 minutes prep/ 4-6 minutes performance)
Perform a piece extemporaneously, with a little preparation time.
All pieces for the 24-25 season will be from Thirteen stories that Capture the Agony and Ecstasy of Being Thirteen by James Howe.
You can borrow a copy of the book from Mr. Otte in the library.
Piece selection is chosen by drawing from an envelope on the day of the meet.
It is up to the student to cut the story so it fits in the 4 -6 minutes along with the introduction
The selection will probably be different each time the student speaks
Student will memorize the introduction
Use of the book is required when reading
At the meet:
Student reports at scheduled time to draw 3 selections and chooses 1 to perform
Student must staple the chosen draw slip indicating title to the Critique Form
Student has 30 minutes to prepare.
Practice as many of the selections as you can!

Record yourself with your iPad
Go people watching and look for people who talk/move like your character
Insert your introduction into Google Translator and play it. How does it sound?
