With approximately 58% Free and Reduced Lunch percentage, Weddington Hills Elementary qualifies again this year for school-wide Title I funding and services. We will receive approximately $375,000 which will be used to increase student achievement, provide professional development, support family and parent engagement, purchase additional instructional supplies/resources, lower class size, etc. More specifically, our Title I funds are used to employ one lead teacher for academics, one encore support teacher, and Title I Tutors to support our students in the area of academics and social emotional development. The Title I funding also allows us to provide staff development training and sponsor parent involvement activities. Title I Funds are also utilized to purchase instructional materials as well as technology hardware and software. We are recognized as a Target Support and Improvement School for underperforming subgroups and are working to close the achievement gap among student subgroups by using data driven practices to identify students who need support in academic areas. Once students are identified for support, interventions will be provided to close the achievement gaps of these students. In addition, as a parent of a student in a Title I school, you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child's teacher.
