APPLICATION FOR FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS
All CCS households can complete an online application process for applying for Free and Reduced meal prices. Parents can complete this process online or request a paper application from the school office. New applications must be completed each year. Students will be able to use the previous year’s status for the first 30 days of school. This application may allow you to receive additional benefits through the school lunch program. (P-EBT)
School Board Policy 6220
CCS will no longer offer alternate meals for negative balances. Any student needing to charge a meal will receive the meal they obtained through the serving line. A la carte items (aka extras or snacks) cannot be purchased while the account is in the negative.
A new charge limit will be established by the Student Meal Charges Committee to allow for flexibility specific to each school. The focus on student meal charges will be prevention.
Breakfast: We are pleased to offer a breakfast program for our students. All students who wish to eat breakfast may pick up breakfast from the breakfast carts on their way to class. Breakfast is available to all students from 7:45 until 8:10 daily. If the bus is late, students will be served. However, if school is delayed an hour due to weather conditions, breakfast will not be served.
Lunch: We are pleased to offer a lunch program for all students. Lunch will be available to all students during their designated lunch time during the day.
CABARRUS COUNTY SCHOOL FOOD POLICY: Parents are discouraged from sending their child a lunch that includes soda, energy drinks, fast food items, or candy. Foods coming from fast food restaurants MUST be rewrapped in plain paper and drinks must be placed in plain paper cups. Children are prohibited from bringing glass bottles to the cafeteria.
Visitors for lunch: We are excited to welcome visitors for lunch. If you plan on eating lunch with your child, please follow the steps below. Lunch visitors start date will be shared at the beginning of each school year.
Lunch Visitors must be listed in PowerSchool as an approved contact.
Lunch Visitors must check in at the main office and provide photo identification.
Once checked in, Lunch Visitors should report directly to the cafeteria.
All Lunch Visitors will sit at the Visitor Table.
Your child will join you at the Visitor Table but cannot bring a friend.
After lunch, please exit the building using the main hallway.
Visitors may not accompany the class back to their rooms.
To ensure school safety, you may not travel throughout the school.
* Please be mindful that while on campus your visitor interaction should be limited to your own child. Individual interaction with other students is not permitted. Violation of this expectation could result in suspension of visitor privileges.
* Teachers are not available for parent conferences during your lunch visit. If you need to speak with a teacher regarding your child please contact the teacher via email or phone and they will schedule a time to meet with you and discuss your concerns.
* ATTENTION: Teachers are not able to warm up student lunches or store lunches in the refrigerator. Please make sure you provide a thermos or a way to keep food warm or cold if needed.
Peanut-Free Tables: A peanut-free table is provided for students with peanut allergies. No peanut products will be allowed at this table.
