Individual Graduation Plan Meetings
An IGP is an Individual Graduation Plan that is developed for a specific student in relation to their high school graduation, post secondary plans, and future career goals. The school counselor works with the student and parent or guardian to develop this plan. Meetings begin in eighth grade and are conducted annually to update the plan.
IGP Meeting Expectations
Arrive a few minutes early so we can begin on time.
Be prepared to talk about the following:
Your current career interest(s)
Four (4) Electives and two (2) alternate electives you would like to request for the next year
Your school counselor will review the following with you:
Announcements and upcoming events for your grade level
Your career interests and what steps you can take next
The South Carolina graduation requirements and your progress in completing them
Your core classes for the next school year (based on your final grades from this year)
Your elective choices (determined by prerequisites and availability)
Alternate electives (a back-up plan in case of schedule conflicts or other issues)
Your meeting will fit within the 15-minute time allotment. If you are still undecided at the end of the meeting, your school counselor will enter initial course requests. You are welcome to continue thinking about your options, and you will have an opportunity to update your requests in March.

Individual
You are unique. Your gifts and strengths are as one-of-a-kind as your fingerprint, so it makes sense that your plan will look different from your friend's plan. Your school counselor will work with you to develop an INDIVIDUAL plan based on YOUR interests, strengths, and goals.
Graduation
The goal is your high school GRADUATION. Cap, gown, and tassel. Family and friends cheering you on. You have 4 years, 8 semesters, and 720 school days to prepare. Make them count! Your school counselor is here to help you check off every graduation requirement. Track your graduation progress through the student portal.
Plan
As Stephen Covey reminds us in his 7 Habits for Highly Successful People, "Begin with the End in Mind." Make a PLAN.
Some students are not sure what they want to do in the future, and the thought of planning sparks anxiety. Uncertainty is normal. Begin planning anyway. You do not need a full-color detailed map of your future, but you can start with one idea and adjust along the way.
