Applying for Graduating Priority in CRS
If you have 36 units or fewer remaining in your program, you may apply to be tagged with Graduating Status in CRS. This tagging grants you priority when enlisting subjects during the preenlistment and registration periods.
To apply, fill out the Google Form posted by the CFA Office of the College Secretary on their official Facebook page. The link is usually made available about 2 days before the start of the preenlistment period each semester.
Note: When calculating your remaining units, include any courses with INC (Incomplete) marks as if they have already been taken.
Enlistment Guidelines
As 4th-year standing BFA (IndD) majors, some of whom may be in their final year, it is important to be responsible and thorough when enlisting subjects for this academic year.
Understand your Curriculum Checklist and refer to it when enrolling in courses for both the 1st Semester and 2nd Semester.
If you haven’t followed the Curriculum Checklist exactly, make sure to track your progress by identifying which subjects you still need to complete the program.
If your Registration Adviser provided an IndD Checklist Google Sheet Template, be sure to update it with the courses you’ve already taken and those you plan to take.
Regularly monitor your CRS account and the IndD checklist sheet for Adviser remarks, and make sure to follow any instructions given.
General Reminders
Major courses D 196 and D 199 are offered only once a year. Failing either course will delay your progress by a full academic year.
D 196 is offered only in the 2nd semester.
Passing D 199 Research in Industrial Design is required before you can enroll in D 200 Industrial Design Thesis in the 2nd Semester.
If you still need to take free electives, make sure they are Program-Approved Free Electives.
(View the List of Program-Approved Free Electives).
Regularly check your UP email and/or follow the official UPCFA Admin Facebook page for important updates on graduation-related processes and events.
Understand the academic rules if you want to ensure your eligibility to graduate with Latin Honors.
(See the section Managing Academic Excellence for more details).

Applying for BFA (IndD) Graduation
Fill out the Application for BFA Graduation online form during the semester you expect to complete your curriculum checklist. The form is posted on the official UPCFA Admin Facebook page one week after the registration period.
Submit the application within the first month of the semester. Late submissions will require you to write an appeal letter, comply with additional requirements, and pay late fees.
Upon submission of the online form, your academic records will be reviewed by the Student Records Evaluator (SRE) to ensure that you are eligible to graduate by the end of the term.
Expect an email regarding the status of your application for graduation.
Managing Completions/Removals
If this is your final year in the BFA Industrial Design program and you are on track to graduate, it is crucial to complete all your INC (Incomplete) marks as soon as possible. Timely submission of completion requirements may allow you to graduate in time for UP CFA’s Recognition Rites and UP Diliman’s Commencement Exercises.
If you still have an INC in any subject, submit all completion requirements as early as possible.
According to university policy, instructors can only assign a completion grade once you are officially enrolled.
However, if you have already submitted all requirements and earned a passing grade, request your instructor to email your Program Adviser directly to confirm that you have completed and passed the course.
This will allow you to enlist in higher-level major courses, even if the final grade has not yet been encoded in CRS and the subject is a prerequisite.
Allow your instructor sufficient time to review and evaluate your submitted completion/removal requirements.
Once you are enrolled, remind your instructor to input your final grade in CRS.
Regularly check your CRS account to ensure that your grade has been encoded.
Important Notes:
A Permit for Completion/Removal may be required to officially process your grade.
If your INC will be removed through an exam, you may need to pay a removal fee (Revised UP Code: Art. 377).
Refer to the Completion/Removal Examination section for a detailed step-by-step guide.
For technical rules and university policies, see the Removal of INC section of the UPD Catalogue.

Managing Academic Excellence
To be eligible for Latin honors, all grades in subjects prescribed in the curriculum, including electives, will be included in the computation of your Cumulative Weighted Average Grade (CWAG). Therefore, if you are aiming to complete the BFA program and graduate with honors, keep in mind that your grades will be factored into the final computation starting from your first year.

Scholastic Standing Guidelines
You are considered in good scholastic standing if, at the end of the semester, you earn final grades of 3.00 or higher in at least 75% of their total enrolled academic units.
The College of Fine Arts follows the academic standing guidelines below for students with unsatisfactory performance:
Warning
If you earn final grades below 3.00 in 25% to 49% of your enrolled academic units in a semester, you will receive a formal warning from the College to improve their academic performance.
Probation
If you earn grades below 3.00 in 50% to 75% of your enrolled academic units, you will be placed on academic probation for the following semester. The College may also limit your academic load.
You may be removed from probation if you pass more than 50% of your enrolled units with grades of 3.00 or better in the next semester.
Dismissal
You may be dismissed from the College of Fine Arts under any of the following conditions:
You earn grades below 3.00 in 76% or more of your enrolled academic units in a semester.
You are already on probation and again fail 50% or more of your academic units in the next semester.
CFA-specific rule: You receive a final grade of 5.00 in two (2) core courses.
You may be dismissed from the Industrial Design Program if:
You receive a final grade of 5.00 in two (2) major IndD courses at any point in the program.
Dismissed students are generally not eligible for readmission to CFA or transfer to another UP unit, unless granted special approval by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Permanent Disqualification
You will be permanently disqualified from readmission to any UP unit if you receive grades below 3.00 in all of your courses in a single semester.
For more details on exceptions and conditions, refer to UP Diliman’s official Rules on Scholastic Standing.
Additional Notes:
A grade of INC is not counted in scholastic standing calculations until it is replaced with a final grade.
A grade of 4.00 is temporarily included in computations until it is removed or converted.
(See the Completion / Removal Examinations section for more details.)
No dismissed or disqualified student may be readmitted without a favorable recommendation from the University Guidance Counselor.
