General Reminders
Most core courses are offered only once a year. Failing a course will delay your progress by a full academic year.
Passing the 1st semester core courses (FA 10, 12, and 14) is required to enroll in the 2nd semester core courses (FA 11, 13, and 15).
FA 16, FA 17, and FA 18 may be taken in any order, but all other Core Courses are only offered once a year.
Passing all core courses is necessary to progress to the 2nd year and take major courses.
Due to the limited availability of GE slots during regular terms, you are highly encouraged to enroll in required GEs during the Midyear Term.
Advancing from AA to BFA
If you are an AA student, you may pursue a BFA degree in the same discipline, provided you meet the entry requirements of the BFA (IndD) program.
Units earned in the AA (IndD) will be credited upon acceptance into the BFA (IndD) program.

Managing Completions/Removals
According to university rules, you are given one year to comply with completion/removal requirements. However, since the Industrial Design program follows a ladderized system, you must pass specific Core/Major courses to proceed to the next level.
If you have an INC (Incomplete) in any course, you must fulfill the completion/removal requirements by the middle of the Midyear Term at the latest.
You will not be allowed to enlist in higher-level courses (particularly major courses) if your prerequisites have not been completed. This may result in a delay of an entire academic year.
According to university policy, instructors can only assign a completion grade if you are officially enrolled.
It is your responsibility to follow up with your instructor regarding your completion grade. However, do allow your instructor sufficient time to review and evaluate your submitted completion/removal requirements.
Important Notes:
A Permit for Completion/Removal may be required to officially process your grade.
If your INC will be removed through an exam, you may need to pay a removal fee (Revised UP Code: Art. 377).

Managing Academic Excellence
To be eligible for Latin honors, all grades in subjects prescribed in the curriculum, including electives, will be included in the computation of your Cumulative Weighted Average Grade (CWAG). Therefore, if you are aiming to complete the BFA program and graduate with honors, keep in mind that your grades will be factored into the final computation starting from your first year.

Scholastic Standing Guidelines
You are considered in good scholastic standing if, at the end of the semester, you earn final grades of 3.00 or higher in at least 75% of their total enrolled academic units.
The College of Fine Arts follows the academic standing guidelines below for students with unsatisfactory performance:
Warning
If you earn final grades below 3.00 in 25% to 49% of your enrolled academic units in a semester, you will receive a formal warning from the College to improve their academic performance.
Probation
If you earn grades below 3.00 in 50% to 75% of your enrolled academic units, you will be placed on academic probation for the following semester. The College may also limit your academic load.
You may be removed from probation if you pass more than 50% of your enrolled units with grades of 3.00 or better in the next semester.
Dismissal
You may be dismissed from the College of Fine Arts under any of the following conditions:
You earn grades below 3.00 in 76% or more of your enrolled academic units in a semester.
You are already on probation and again fail 50% or more of your academic units in the next semester.
CFA-specific rule: You receive a final grade of 5.00 in two (2) core courses.
You may be dismissed from the Industrial Design Program if:
You receive a final grade of 5.00 in two (2) major IndD courses at any point in the program.
Dismissed students are generally not eligible for readmission to CFA or transfer to another UP unit, unless granted special approval by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Permanent Disqualification
You will be permanently disqualified from readmission to any UP unit if you receive grades below 3.00 in all of your courses in a single semester.

Additional Notes:
A grade of INC is not counted in scholastic standing calculations until it is replaced with a final grade.
A grade of 4.00 is temporarily included in computations until it is removed or converted.

No dismissed or disqualified student may be readmitted without a favorable recommendation from the University Guidance Counselor.
