The SINAG Portfolio Show is an annual exhibit featuring works produced by sophomore Industrial Design and Visual Communication students during their first and second years in the College. It showcases the knowledge, skills, and creative development acquired by students throughout their first two years.
For Industrial Design students, the exhibit highlights works demonstrating proficiency in different areas of industrial design practice.
Important Note:
The SINAG exhibit serves as an entrance requirement for AA students applying to the BFA program. It is not an exit requirement for the AA program.
AA Students
Must have completed the AA (IndD) curriculum or will complete the required courses by the end of the Midyear Term, or at the very least, have completed all CFA-based courses.
Any INC grade should be cleared at least one week before the SINAG exhibit.
Students with unresolved INCs in their CFA courses, but who have completed the requirements, must request their instructor to provide a letter certifying that they have successfully completed and passed the subject, in lieu of pending grade submission.
Students who do not meet the CWAG requirements but still wish to pursue a BFA degree are encouraged to enroll in another AA program and return later as transferees. Their TDT requirements are waived since they have already taken the TDT upon admission to the College.
BFA Students
Sophomore BFA students who have successfully completed all major courses are encouraged to participate.
Participation is voluntary, but students are highly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to be part of a Department of Visual Communication exhibit.
Content:
Minimum of 10 best plates from 1st and 2nd-year classes.
All works must be original and properly labeled.
Actual plates used in class should be exhibited. Digital works may be presented as printed copies.
Minor adjustments, matting, and presentation enhancements are allowed. Students are discouraged from redoing their plates.
AA students are required to submit a digital PDF portfolio of the works they will exhibit.
QR codes may be included.
Evaluation Criteria:
Drawing skills (both freehand and computer-generated)
Skills in 3D construction and prototyping (both manual/traditional and digital)
Design process (idea generation and development)
Note: These criteria apply only to Industrial Design (IndD) students. VC students should consult their program coordinator for specific requirements.
All participating students are expected to take part in mounting and dismantling the exhibit.
Each student is responsible for the installation and maintenance of their own display.
Block representatives coordinate with faculty advisers, students, and staff regarding ingress, egress, and other exhibit concerns.
Faculty advisers assign the exhibit layout and coordinate with block representatives.
Sophomore VC and IndD students share the same exhibit space.
Exhibit panels are used for displaying plates. Pedestals and other display materials may be requested if needed.
Display labels containing the student's name and program will be provided.
Students may organize teams to handle opening reception, food, program flow, label printing, and online invitations.
The official SINAG poster and banner design will be prepared for printing through the gallery committee.
Students may use the official design for social media promotion and may create a dedicated SINAG Facebook page.
Students whose works are deemed lacking in quality by the AA-BFA Committee may be required to undergo a concours, during which additional artworks may be requested.
The Committee may also recommend:
Talent Determination Test (TDT) 2.0
Bridge courses
Revalida
AA students must:
Apply for graduation from the AA program during the semester they intend to graduate.
Participate in the SINAG exhibit and showcase their best works from the first and second years.
Follow the prescribed guidelines and coordinate with their block representatives.
Prioritize completeness of requirements over thematic presentation.
Keep their schedules open during the exhibition period in case further evaluation or a revalida is required.
Take note that participation in the SINAG exhibit does not automatically guarantee admission to the BFA program.
Await the results of the Committee's evaluation and the notice of BFA qualification.
Proceed with the application to the BFA program upon receiving the Notice of BFA Qualification.
