Wetlands: An Environmental Filter Demonstration

A wetland is an ecosystem that is flooded by water, either permanently or seasonally. The primary factor that distinguishes wetlands from other landforms is that wetlands inhabit vegetation of aquatic plants and have hydric soil. Wetlands serve as natural water filters. Wetlands also play a crucial role in the environment that surrounds them and provides habitat for many different species, some of which being endangered. In this research poster, we display a hands-on experiment showing the effects of wetlands on water filtration.
