Macroinvertebrates in Little Sugar Creek
In our project we discuss kick netting results from Little Sugar Creek. When we kick netted in Little Sugar Creek, we found that it is a rather healthy ecosystem. During kick net collection, we used macroinvertebrates as indicator species which led us to our conclusions on water parameters. In our kick netting process, we were able to catch many macroinvertebrates. We collected samples which included Water Pennies, Dobsonflies, Mayfly Nymphs, Crane Fly Nymphs, and lastly Caddisfly Larva. With the results that we collected; we were able to indicate that the water quality of Little Sugar Creek is a sustainable environment for multiple different species of macroinvertebrates due to its lack of pollution. This, supplemented with monthly water parameter tests, helped us make/ solidify these conclusions.
