National Park


You will be creating a multimedia project about a national park. 

All sections must include text and visual (pictures) information. 

The following is the information you need to include in your Google Slide presentation, a description, and the points each is worth. 

PROJECT DUE September 29th. 

Presentations October 2-6th.

The National Parks Project Requirements

Title Slide with Name     5 points

   Include a title slide with the name of your national park, your name, and an image.

Map of the USA with park             2.5 points

    Include a map indicating where the park is located in the USA. 

Map of the park                         2.5 points

    There also needs to be a detailed map of the National Park itself. Make the map a link to a real map that could be used for navigation around the park.

Native American Information 5 points

    What Native American Tribes lived in or around your National Park before it was turned into a National Park. What was their daily life like? How did they use the land area that eventually became a National Park?

Historical Background 5 points 

    Provide a historical background for your National Park. What were the circumstances before, during, and after it became a national park? What year did it become a National Park? Why was it turned into a national park?

Modern Day Park         5 points

    Why do people visit it now? How many people visit the park each year? What is the park famous for?

Ecosystems         5 points

    Describe the park's ecosystem or ecosystems. Is your park a desert, forest, swamp, etc.? What is the climate like?

Native animals   5 points

    What are the native animals that currently live in your national park? Include specific animals like Red Tail Fox, not just fox. Include pictures.

Native Plants 5 points

    What are the native plants that currently grow in your national park? Include specific names like North American Blue Spruce, not just trees.

Geographical features         5 points

    Describe the geographical features. What kinds of rock formations or land formations are found in your park? Things like rivers, lakes, waterfalls, oceans etc. are geographical features.

    Create a pic collage using screen grabs from Google Maps.

Other Fun Facts and Information     5 points

    Include a section for any other facts or information that you learned about your national park that was not already included in your presentation.


Screencast a Google Maps walkthrough          5 points

    Use Google Maps Streetview and Screencastify to create a virtual walkthrough of the park. Narrate your walkthrough with as much information as you can. Include the walkthrough in your slide presentation.**VIDEO should be 30 seconds to 1 minute. You have a 1-minute limit.

What is the biggest threat to your park and How to solve the threat 5 points 

    Research the biggest threat to your National Park. It might be something like potential oil drilling, one of the trees is in danger, the river is being overused, or animal species are endangered etc.

    Determine what you think is the best way to solve the threat. Make a plan and describe the steps it would take to implement your solution.

PSA         5 points

    You will be filming a short public service announcement to attract visitors to your national park. This video will be filmed using Screencastify. You will need to be creative and persuasive. Why should visitors come to your park? You want to get lots of visitors to your park so convince them in the PSA. Then include the PSA in your slideshow. To create the PSA you will need to create a new blank slide deck, include only pictures, and then do a voice-over recording with Screencastify. This will be modeled in class but you can also see the steps here in this video. **VIDEO should be 30 seconds to 1 minute. You have a 1-minute limit.

    Using Google Forms, create a quiz other students can take to see what they learned about your National Park. Also, include a feedback section.
