Presentation Schedule - Monday, March 17 through Friday, April 11. You present the week your school is eliminated from the tournament.
Self-assessment checklist. Use this document to help keep track of your progress and ensure that you have all the required elements.
Your project should include:
Background information on the university: when it was founded, who founded it, why did they founded it, etc.
Location: Where is it located in the US? Include a map of the US where the university is identified.
Include a MYMAP zoomed-in on the campus with labels that show what different buildings are.
Why do people choose to attend this school? What is it known for? What do people say is the best thing about the school?
Find and explain data (statistics) about the student population. For example, what is the boy-girl ratio, what is the average high school GPA needed to be accepted, what major is the most popular, and where do most of the students come from? Include the cost of attending the school.
Explain the importance of the basketball team (or the sports department in general) to the University and the surrounding community. Why do people care about the school team(s)? What is the average attendance at the basketball games? How many players on the basketball team have made the NBA?
Information about the school mascot.
Include a screencast from inside the basketball arena if possible, or somewhere else on campus if the arena is not available.
What famous athletes attended your university? (No more than 3!)
Include any additional facts that you discovered that you thought were interesting or important to report to your classmates.
Design your own T-shirt or other apparel that represents the school's basketball or other sports team. I recommend you draw the logo and take a picture of your drawings to include in your slide deck. You can design online, but you are not allowed to use memorabilia that is already created (ie no copy-and-paste logos).
Application Essay: Pretend you are applying to attend this school. Write an essay that is between 400 and 500 words that addresses ONE of the following prompts:
Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your personal story.
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
Share an informational essay on any topic of your choice. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Include evidence and cite from sources.
Share an opinion essay that explains why you are particularly interested in attending this specific college and how you see yourself contributing to the community.
