You will be creating a multimedia project on a state  

All sections must include text and visual (pictures) information.

The following is the information you need to include in your Google Slide presentation, a description, and the points each is worth.

Location 2 pts

   include a map of the entire United States with your state identified. (THIS IS THE SECOND SLIDE OF THE PROJECT) (2 pts)

Historical Background            4 points

    Provide a historical background for your State. Identify the year did it become a state. Identify the circumstances before, during, and after it became a state.

Description of Major Parks and Landmarks           4 points

    What are the major points of interest? Where should I visit if I was going there? Describe the major state parks, national parks, and scenic landmarks. For example, if you were doing California you might include places like Yosemite (National Park), Hollywood sign (landmark), Pfeiffer Big Sur (State Park), and more. Include 4-6 points of interest.

Screencast a Point of Interest                 4 Points

    Choose a point of interest that someone should visit if they were in your state. This should be a new point of interest in addition to the ones listed in the parks and landmarks section. Make a screencast using Google Maps to show the point of interest. Explain why someone should go there, what they can do, and what you see in the screencast. (See help video below)

Description of important sports teams        4 points

    Sports play a major role in American Culture. Each state has specific sports or teams that they identify with. Include information about major sports teams from MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, etc. If your state doesn't have any professional teams, they most likely have important college teams like Alabama for example doesn't have a professional team but they are very invested in the Alabama Crimson Tide. You can also include information about other sports that are important for the area. For example, surfing in Hawaii or Sled Dog Racing in Alaska. 

Information about Famous People that were born in your state          4 points

    Who are they and why are they famous. Include people that you think are relevant to you or your classmates. Include people you think your classmates would know. (Choose between 2-4 people)

Name of current Governor          2 points

    Who is the Governor of your state as of January 2020? 

Current Population and Land Area          2 points

    Include the current population as of the most recent census data as well as the land area in square miles.

Fun Facts                                   2 points

    Include any fun facts that you learned while researching your state. This is a place to include any information that you find interesting that is not already including in another section of the report.

Flag          4 points

    Picture and historical information on the importance of the flag.

MyMap        4 points

    Include a map of your state with the five largest cities labeled. Include the capital of the state even if it is not one of the largest cities. (Use Google My Maps see video below) (4 pts)

Commercial For Your State        4 points

    You will create a commercial to get people to come to visit your state. Create a separate short Google slide deck showing only pictures of the best parts of your state. You should show pictures of things people can do and places people should visit. Use Screencastify to do a voiceover and explain each picture. (See help video below)

Moving Time           4 Points

    Convince the audience why they should move to your state. Include exactly where they should live in the state and at 3 key reasons why they should move to that location in your state.

Works Cited                        4 points

    Copy and paste the website URL to this slide to keep track of where you got your information. You should also have a URL pasted to the speaker notes in each slide. You don't need a picture for this slide.

Quiz and Class Feedback                       4 points

    Create a quiz/feedback Google Form for your presentation. (See help video below)

Art Piece License plate recreation      8 points  

    Each state has unique license plates. Some states have multiple license places. Choose a license place and make an art piece. You can paint or draw or recreate digitally, but you need to do the creation. Then take a picture and include it in your project.


Presentation        20 points 

You must present your work to the class. You may pre-record your presentation using Screencastify or you may present live in front of the class.

The following are the breakdown of the 20 points for the presentation:    

On-time - 5 points 

Voice Volume - 5 points

Information was easy to read and in a logical order - 5 points

Know the information - 5 points
