A male and female bird work together, picking up pieces of grass and feathers from other birds to create a nice cushion for the eggs. The male and female take turns sitting on the eggs. The female lays eggs and the male incubates them. Here are the eggs a few days before they hatch.
Here are the chicks right after they come out of the egg. As you can see, some of the chicks come out before their siblings, getting more food and nutrition. As a result, they are bigger and are more likely to survive than latter ones.
Here are the chicks on the day they are about to get banded. They are growing their feathers and their legs are big enough to fit a band that they will carry with them for the rest of their life.
