-DO NOT TOUCH OR OPEN THE BOXES- -DO NOT TOUCH THE BIRDS-
6/9/22
4 eggs
This nest is due to hatch any day meaning it could be the first box to hatch!
6/10/22
4 chicks
This was the very first nest to hatch! The newly hatched chicks are bald and helpless.
This is the female from this box.
She was first caught and banded in 2017 as an adult and has been caught again in 2018 and 2019 at UAF in the potato and T fields. In 2020 she was caught at Creamers field. She was not caught last year, so it is nice to see her reappear. This means that she is at least 6 years old!
6/14/22
The chicks are now 4 days old and have grown a lot since hatching!
6/16/22
The little chicks are growing quickly and are looking healthy, their parents have been doing a good job catching insects to feed the little babies.
6/21
The four little chicks have been banded! At 11 days old they are fat and healthy.
6/26
Today was the first possible day that the chicks might fledge, however these four little babies are still in their box. They will most likely fledge very soon.
6/30
The chicks are fledged leaving just and empty nest. They will likely not return to this box again unless they come back as adults to nest here next year.
