The final part of any season, the nests have been removed from the boxes to allow birds next year to use them.
And with that, the chicks have fledged. They have left the nest, and they enter into a world full of uncertainty and challenge. They cannot yet fly, and their parents will continue to feed them until they are able to.
Banding of the chicks
On June 24th, the chicks of Box 26 were successfully banded!

Banding of the Parents
On June 15th, both parents of Box 26 were caught (including the male, which doesn't always happen) and banded.
Box 26's chicks
Here were the chicks at only a few days old. Despite being so small now, it will only be a few weeks until they fledge, and a few months until they begin migrating south.
