Podcasts are digital audio shows that cover a wide range of topics, from storytelling to news to educational content. They're like your own personal radio station that you can listen to anytime, anywhere.
For students, creating a podcast can be a fun and creative way to express themselves, share their interests, and connect with others. Whether it's discussing school events, exploring hobbies, sharing music or book reviews, or even starting a debate club podcast, the possibilities are endless. Podcasting allows students to develop their communication skills, explore their passions, and make their voices heard in a digital world.
From the "Choose a Project Page," click "Project Templates."
Select "Voice" then click "choose" at the bottom right of the box.
Ensure that these two icons are deselected.
To start recording your voice or podcast, just pick a microphone and click on the red circle button at the top of the window. Then, talk into your microphone. When you're finished talking, click the red circle button again to stop recording. Click the play button to stop and start the track.
The default "voice" project template opens with mulitple microphones to select from. Just click on the microphone you want to try before recording to see how you like the sound.
You can change the type of microphone by selecting the track and then clicking from the options in the left panel.
You can add as many new tracks as you want! These can include new voice recordings by repeating the previous process, sound effects, music, and pre-recorded audio.
To add an audio file, simply find the audio file on your computer and then drop it into GarageBand. It will automatically create a new track. You can then move it to the correct position by clicking and dragging.
Let's try adding music and sound effects provided by free from Apple. In finder, search for Apple Loops for GarageBand and click to open the folder. You can download more by following the instructions at the bottom of this page.
Browse the many audio files availble and find one to match the theme of your voice recording. You can find music for an intro, outro, mood, or special sound effects. Once you find one to try, click and drag it into your GarageBand project. This music is great for an exciting story!
Go up to the GarageBand menu, click the File menu, and select ‘Save As.’
Give you project a name and select where you would like it to be saved.
