Congratulations on being accepted into Drama.
Here is where you will find some of the information covered in Marking Period 4.

Who are you?
Stella Adler believed that growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous and vice versa. The more you learn who you are, the more you can explore what you can bring to the table in a character.

Assignment: When you are reading the article 8 Habits to Live by for Actors, you will use this Response Document posted on Google Classroom to offer your thoughts and evaluations on each point.
Building Your Library and Organizing Your Google Drive
Take a moment to look over the Google Slide presentation.
Assignment: Take time to organize your Google Drive.
Acting for Life- Chapter 1
Acting for Life is our in class textbook.
Step 1: Read through the Table of Contents to become familiar with the book
Step 2: Read Chapter 1 (You can do this independently or as a class. The Substitute may have a preference for how this is done.) If you are absent or need help. I am attaching a Google drive folder with a digital copy and a video of me reading.
Step 3: Complete the Response to Chapter 1 questions. Try to expand your answers and provide well thought out articulate responses. This will be posted in Google Classroom.
The Stage and Production
Read through the Google Slide and familiarize yourself with the parts of the stage, careers in entertainment, and the various other elements of theatre. You will be using these terms over the next four years.
Assignment: Complete the Production Project. These will be presented to the class. Please also take a photo of your project to upload in Google Classroom.

Getting to know each other activities
Ensemble Work- Ensemble work is learning to work together as a class, team, group of players using theatre games and challenges. If you are not present in class during these activities, there is no alternate assignment that can replace these experiences.
Current Events: We look at what is happening in the industry. Focus for 2023 was the Writer's Strike, which has now expanded to the Directors and Actors.
Te Ata- We watched the film and learned about the obstacles she overcame and how she found success in her own way. There are response questions. Unless you have access to the film, you may not be able to make this up.
Group Performance- Students work together to create a group performance or scene for the final Freshmen Showcase.
