Our School Handbook has further information about our school.
We have no parking for parents on site other than for those with blue badges. However, there are large car parks and safe walking routes from Hazlehead Park.
When possible we encourage children walking or cycling/scootering to get to school. Classes use the Travel Tracker to keep track of all the active ways in which children travel to school and pupils can earn badges for active travel.
Please contact the school as soon as possible if your contact information changes.
At Hazlehead School we have a very active and generous Parent Council who work very hard to fundraise so that our pupils can have all the special little extras that make their time here so special. Have a read of the latest report on their efforts.
Place2Be
Hazlehead Primary School works with Place2Be, a national charity supporting schools to improve the confidence and wellbeing of children and young people.
Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people, families and staff in more than 450 schools nationwide.
It gives children and young people a space to express themselves through talking and creative work, and to think about any worries they might have. Place2Be also provides support for parents and staff too. Some information below is enclosed to tell you more about Place2Be and its work.
Place2Talk
One of the most popular aspects of this service is called ‘Place2Talk’. It’s open to all children and young people at Hazlehead Primary School. Pupils can make an appointment to spend 15 minutes with a trained counsellor, either by themselves or with a friend. On average, about a third of children and young people who access the service in schools take advantage of this service every year. Children and young people often talk about friendships or any worries they may have.
Place2Be will record your child’s name, date of birth, year group, gender, ethnicity, the broad topic of discussion and any actions taken as a result of the session. This information is stored securely. It is used in a key coded form to evaluate Place2Be’s service and improve our work. For more information on this, please see this link: https://place2be.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/Resources/ESL7oYtcOYBCoDmN8vCV5toB--evuT68xovbaMqqic5wOg?e=wk7zsk
Parent Partnership
Place2Be also offer parental partnership conversations for parents who have a concern about their child's wellbeing but who aren't sure how best to support their child. These conversations are a safe space for parents wanting to explore effective ways of supporting children at home when exhibiting challenging or confusing behaviour.
Parental Agreement for Accessing Place2Talk
Unless we hear otherwise from you, the school and Place2Be will assume that your child has parent/carers’ permission to come to Place2Talk.
If would like to find out more or would prefer that your child does not use this service, please contact Laura Craddock- School Counsellor on Tel: 07977810833 or Email: Laura. Craddock @place2be.org.uk who will be very happy to answer any questions.
You may be aware Scotland’s education system is being reformed, this includes the creation of a new qualifications body, Qualifications Scotland, and a new education inspectorate, with further changes to national education public bodies occurring throughout the upcoming school year. Improvements to the curriculum and approach to qualifications, and assessment are also planned in the coming years. This work will enhance outcomes for children and young people educated in Scotland with the aim of ensuring excellence and equity by raising standards and giving every child and young person the same opportunity to succeed. Further information can be found on the Scottish Government’s website.
