Teenage Brain Development
Teenage Brain Development
“Risk-taking, heightened self-consciousness and spending more time with friends are all symptoms of an important stage of brain development… The long journey of adolescence equips us with a sense of self-identity and an understanding of other people that enable us to become independent adults”
Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, 2018
Did you know the teenage brain undergoes huge growth and change, almost as much as when they were a toddler? The brain of a teenager is changing, learning and growing! We want to tap into this time of change and celebrate the learning potential of the adolescent brain.
We have developed a training programme, for teachers to develop their understanding of teenage brain development and how it impacts the emotions and behaviour of our teenagers throughout these challenging and exciting years.
If you are interested in accessing this training, please contact your Educational Psychology Locality via email: EPSDee@aberdeecity.gov.uk EPSDon@aberdeencity.gov.uk or EPSWest@aberdeencity.gov.uk
