Trauma Informed Interactions aims to help staff learn how they can de-escalate situations by promoting safety, understanding, and empathy. By recognising that past trauma can influence current behaviour, individuals can respond with compassion and avoid triggering further distress. This approach emphasises building trust, respecting personal space, actively listening, and validating emotions, ultimately creating a safer and more supportive environment for everyone involved.
The Educational Psychology Service (EPS) have developed an e-module based on the "Trauma Informed" level of the National Trauma Transformational Programme (NTTP). The content of this training is therefore applicable to all people working within the Scottish workforce. This training will support professionals to develop their practice in interacting with individuals in a trauma-informed way.
This video is taken from the full training which can be accessed by ACC staff via ACC Learn - see below for more details.
