The most common way school staff access support from our Service for individual learners is through requesting problem-solving discussions called Early Intervention Consultations (EICs). School staff will ask for your verbal consent before requesting an EIC about your child. For more information about what you can expect as a parent or carer from the EIC process (and other aspects of our work), please click here.
Our Service works across three levels (Universal, Systemic, and Targeted) to support children and young people and their families across Aberdeen City. Most of our work takes place at the Universal Level through problem-solving discussions (known as Early Intervention Consultations or EICs) which staff can access as and when required. Sometimes a short-term psychological role at a Targeted Level for a learner may be identified at an EIC but it is more common for us to continue to support at the Universal or Systemic Level as this allows us to provide timely support for a greater number of learners and their families. It may be that following an EIC for your child, the role of the Service was identified at a Universal or Systemic Level (e.g., providing training or coaching for staff) and so we would not be working directly with your family.
For more information about how we work across these levels, please click here.
We only hold information about individual learners when we we have a targeted role and an active case file. You will provide written consent for this. When the role is complete and the learner's targeted case file is 'closed', we will hold information until the learner is 25 years old. For care experienced children and young people, their data will be kept for 100 years. Your families' information is kept secure and confidential, in accordance with GDPR. Click here for more information about how your data is stored and processed.
