If you are a parent or carer and have a concern regarding your child's education or wellbeing, we ask that you first contact the a professional who supports your child. For children under five years old this is usually a Health Visitor or Early Years Practitioner; and for children/young people in school it will be a member of the school's Senior Leadership Team (Head Teacher or Depute HT) or a Guidance/Pupil Support Teacher. They can then contact us to request an Early Intervention Consultation (EIC). For more information about how parents and carers can expect to be involved in the EIC process (and other aspects of our work), please visit our Working Together with Families page by clicking here.
If you have tried communicating with these professionals and you still have concerns, or have a general enquiry for our Service, please email the appropriate Locality Group using the details below, and an Educational Psychologist will be in touch. We will discuss next steps with you which, in relation to a concern about a child or young person, will likely be for us to organise an EIC with relevant professionals, if Step 1 has already been attempted.
Please note: the Educational Psychology Service are not able to answer questions regarding the status of placing requests or school placement decision making processes (including appeals). These are within the role of the Quality Improvement Team. To find out how to contact your Quality Improvement Team, please contact your child's school.
