Think about the topic that you would like to present and prepare a brief bullet points of what you're going to say. Make sure to include an introduction, a body message, and a conclusion.
In-class activities
Student presents a brief (3-4 minutes) presentation to mentor
Mentor helps the student with the following areas:
Student appropriately introduced himself/herself, the topic to be presented, and clearly present the content of the presentation.
The speech must be organized in a logical manner.
Tone, volume, and pronunciation were effective, and the rate of speech was appropriate.
Not rely upon notes or reading off notes
Body language: Student makes appropriate eye contact throughout presentation and handles Q&A session in an engaging manner.
Mentor shares with students some tips to improve public speaking, such as:
Practice in front of mirror and record yourself
How to effectively tell the story / make your points
Pay attention to how people speak, their expressions, their body languages, how they structured their speech
