Volunteers - not paid tutors/teachers
Instructors must not be paid for teaching a CR. The CR program is based on the concept of students learning from the many valuable resources in our community and it must be equally accessible to all students. Families cannot pay a tutor or teacher and get a grade and credit through the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
Qualified
CR instructors must be qualified to teach in the subject area. Please contact the CR office if you are interested in teaching a CR.
Some examples of qualifications:
having a degree in the subject area
native speaker of a world language
professional in the field
expert in a craft or trade
advanced training or coursework
If the CR is being used to complete a graduation requirement, instructors must be up to date on the state required standards. The AAPS CR monitors will assist instructors in creating the course plan to meet the requirements, but the CR instructor should be highly qualified in that they know how to teach the standards.
