General Information and Procedures
Students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average to take classes at UM.
Talk to your high school counselor to determine if a UM class is right for you. These courses can be very challenging and the grade DOES affect your high school GPA.
Please know that the CR student is responsible for attending all UM classes, including during AAPS vacations, and completing all of the work with the same expectations and grading scale as the UM students.
All parent communication regarding a CR course at UM must occur between the parent and the CR Monitor. The CR Monitor is the AAPS teacher who is listed as the teacher of record on the course and is responsible for assigning the grade to the CR student. UM instructors communicate with the students regularly, but it is not their practice to communicate with the parents of students. If parents have questions about their students in a UM class, they should contact the CR Monitor who is listed in PowerSchool, not the UM instructor.
Contact Danelle Mosher (mosher@aaps.k12.mi.us) in the CR office before contacting the UM Romance Language Office with questions. They are extremely busy with their own UM students and we want to make sure this volunteer program that they graciously participate in runs as smoothly as possible for them.
Contact Michelle Yager (yagerm@aaps.k12.mi.us) with questions regarding taking math at UM.
Steps to choosing a class and getting permission to take a CR at UM
See link for detailed information
Send supporting CR application materials to your CR monitor
After the application is complete and the syllabus and permission email are sent to the CR monitor, the instructor will be contacted and the CR approved so the class can be recorded on the student's AAPS schedule.
If the completed CR Application is not turned in to the CR Department, the student cannot get credit for the class and will not be allowed to stay in the UM class. No retroactive credit is allowed.
