1. Find a Community Resource Volunteer Instructor
The CR instructor must be qualified to teach the subject matter to the student. A degree in the subject area is preferred, but a native speaker of a world language, or a professional in the field, is also qualified.
Instructors cannot be paid for their services.
Elective CRs and Service Learning/Volunteer CRs can be completed for credit as pass/fail courses with the supervision of an adult instructor/sponsor. Contact Danelle Mosher with questions about what is possible.
Student and instructor must meet for at least half of the 4-5 hours of coursework each week.
Instructors must complete a Volunteer Certification Form if they are not a local school teacher, university instructor or parent/guardian of the student. If the CR course includes more students than just the family member, the parent does need to complete the form.

2. Work with the instructor to create a syllabus
Use the syllabus template to include all the required elements in your course plan for the semester. Depending on the course, it could be the instructor who creates the syllabus.
A syllabus and contacts for a Service Learning CR are available in the CR office. See Danelle Mosher.
If the CR is for graduation credit with a district common assessment, the student will be required to take the district common assessment. Ask the subject area CR monitor for information on what will be expected.
3. Create your application form
See Application Process for all of the steps
4. Talk to your counselor or forum leader about your CR plan. They will need to approve that this class fits your individualized overall graduation plan.
Submit all application paperwork to the CR Monitor by the deadline.
