Due to the intricacies of creating schedules for approximately 600 students, we need to stress that specific teacher requests cannot be granted.
If there were documented issues/concerns for a student with a specific teacher in prior years, counselors will do their best to accommodate this request. This request must be made in writing to counselors prior to schedules being mailed home in August.
Counselors may not move classes to another period if the new class is larger in size. The only classes that can possibly be moved to another period would be if that class is smaller. All classes involved in the move must help to balance class size. Classes will also not be moved to another course section after add course deadlines unless extreme extenuating circumstances exist, and with permission of the teacher and an administrator.
Students are randomly assigned lunch periods based on their courses in the middle of the day. Courses will not be moved to accommodate a specific lunch period.
Class sizes are set based on classroom size and resources available (i.e. number of computers). At times, there are more requests for a course than seats available. If a student does not receive a course requested due to a closed class, they can contact their counselor to request being placed on a waitlist. Students will be listed on a first come, first serve basis.
Late Arrival/Early Dismissal is a privilege for seniors. If there is a first period or eleventh period study hall on a schedule, a senior may complete paperwork to request a late arrival/early dismissal. Classes will not be moved out of first period or eleventh period for a student to get late arrival/early dismissal unless it helps to balance class sizes.
