Today, Mediasphere went to Elizabeth Furnace in George Washington National Forest to meet with a member of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) to volunteer and help scrub the interpretive signs along the Charcoal and Iron Furnace Trails. Together, we cleaned 29 signs and hopefully saved the PATC and the national forest some time and effort.
Today we did volunteer work at Elizabeth's Furnace. We cleaned off the trail signs to make it easier to read them, and all got cool blue rocks that I forgot the name of [slag]. After that we went to the pool and made shirts by placing objects on a solar reactive chemical spread on the shirts.

Today, we volunteered to help clean signs. I found a whole lot of mushrooms and the people helping us gave us some amazing slag rock which is an offput of iron. It has some real cool blue and black colors and I even found my own around the trail.

Today,we went to the Pig Iron Trail to clean signs. The cleanup was orchestrated by the PATC, a group that works to clean and freshen up trails, and they've already rehabilitated a few thousand miles. Our job was to clean up and freshen the signs on the trail that described the history of pig iron. We left in groups of 3 and 4, which I felt wasn't needed since it only required 1 or 2 people to clean a sign. But we ended up cleaning most of the trail, and we saw lots of nice scenery along the way.

Today we volunteered at Elizabeth Furnace, which used to be a pig iron furnace which produced slag that was left behind. After that we went to the park and made shirts that had ink that changed blue from the sun. We went to the pool for the rest of the day after that.

We went to Elizabeth Furnace to volunteer and help clean signs on the trail. It was a nice trail and had lots of valuable information about the trail and the furnaces.
