To initiate a repair on a Chromebook, please:
- First create a Helpdesk ticket describing what occurred or what isn't working.
- Print the Helpdesk ticket, fold in half, and tape it to the broken Chromebook.
- Once the ticket has been created, the Tech Services team will receive that ticket and dispatch a repair sleeve to you via interoffice mail.
- Place the broken Chromebook, its ticket, in the repair sleeve and return to Technology via interoffice mail.
- Technology will receive the device, diagnose the issue, order parts, and begin the repair process. This may take up to 5-10 business days.
- When the repair is complete, we will return the device to you in the repair sleeve via interoffice mail.
- Return the empty repair sleeve to Tech via interoffice mail.
At Showalter Middle School:
- The student reports a problem to their 6th period teacher. Before creating a helpdesk ticket, the student and teacher should try:
- Power off the Chromebook by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds. Power on the Chromebook.
- Visit the Chromebook Help Site to troubleshoot common issues.
- The 6th period teacher creates a Helpdesk ticket describing what occurred or what isn't working.
- The 6th period teacher prints the Helpdesk ticket, folds in half, and tapes it to the broken Chromebook.
- The 6th period teacher places the Chromebook and the repair ticket in the student's case and sends it to Technology via interoffice mail.
- Technology Services will receive the device, diagnose the issue, order parts, and begin the repair process. This may take up to 5-10 business days.
- When the repair is complete, Tech Services will return the device and its case to the 6th period teacher via interoffice mail.
