Mandated Reporter Training (see Section 2 below)
Background/DBS Check
Complete the following Mandated Reporter Training (free video training) and upload your Certificate of Completion to the following link by June 25th, 2024. If you are already considered a Mandated Reporter due to another professional capacity or you've already completed the training, please upload documentation showing proof.
We will have a brief meeting on the first morning of each session to review key information. This will be a chance to meet the Mentors onsite, as they will be the ones who will be able to directly assist you with any tech issues and will come daily to take attendance. Any other details that we feel you need before the program starts will be sent via email.
The students have a brief orientation from 9:00 am - 9:45 am on the first Monday of their session. Classes will not begin until 10:00 am on Monday, July 15th and July 28th. It is during this time that we will hold the Instructor Briefing. The briefing will be held at St. Stephen's House - classroom: HOPE ROOM.
NB: Two classes will be assigned to our off-site classes at Stanford House, located at 65 High St. (about 10 minutes walking distance from St. Stephen's House). The first day once orientation is over and students are ready to go, an SSB mentor will accompany you and your classes. From Tuesday onward, you will always meet your students directly at Stanford House at 9.00 am.
Classes will be held either on campus or at Stanford House. Parking can be requested and approved by St. Stephen's House conference services. Please email eva@terraeducation.com prior to the start of the program to make your request. One week before your session starts, you will receive an email with more information about this.
Instruction time begins promptly at 9:00 am daily, Monday-Friday. Please plan to arrive ahead of the start time in order to get settled. The Mentor will be ensuring that you can enter the building and the classroom. You will be provided with the name and location and a visual aide for your classroom location in an email in advance.
All classrooms are equipped with projectors, Wi-Fi, and a whiteboard. We advise you to use your own laptop since the classrooms do not contain these. Students will come with their own laptop and most likely a smartphone.
Please come prepared with any necessary printouts/photocopies for your sessions. This is a reimbursable cost.
Should you require any specialized supplies or extra materials, please submit your request to Hannah Gordon, Oxford Campus Director (oxfordcd@summerspringboard.com) and copy eva@summerspringboard.com prior to June 15th. This way we can assure prompt arrival for any orders we need to place. If you purchase your own supplies without pre-approval Summer Springboard will not provide reimbursement.
7. Curriculum /Session Content
In advance of the program, the course curriculum and all supporting documents will be shared with you via Dropbox or a Google Drive folder. If you have not received this by June 15th, please contact eva@summerspringboard.com. If you are creating your own curriculum, please remember to use this template (you will need to make a copy) for your daily slides.
We highly recommend you download any materials to your commuter or flash drive/USB stick to mitigate any unforeseen technology glitches that may occur. We also recommend that you have a backup plan (virtual guest speaker, short one-day assignment) should for some unforeseen reason you're unable to teach for one day.
8. Course Wrap-Up
All instructors are required to write a reference letter for their students. You are welcome to use a generic version if you choose. You will need to download, customize with information related to the course and excursions, sign, and return to eva@summerspringboard.com in Word or Google Doc format.
Please use the below invoice template (download first, then modify and save) and send it to eva@summerspringboard.com by August 10th.
Oxford Invoice Template - to be completed upon the end of your summer teaching. You will need to make a copy as this is a template everyone has access to.
