The students have a brief orientation from 9:00 am - 9:45 am on the first Monday of the session, June 17th. Class will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17, however, all other classes of the session will begin at 9:00 AM. We will hold the Instructor Meeting during this time as students will be in orientation. During this meeting, you will meet the onsite staff and go over any other key information. Any other details that need to be communicated prior to the program start date will be sent via email. This meeting will be held in the first floor lobby of the Georgia Tech John Lewis Student Center, (351 Ferst Dr. NW, Atlanta). Looking forward to seeing you all and meeting some of you in person!
Parking passes will be provided to all instructors who need one. One week before your first session starts, you will receive an email with more information about the pass.
All classes will be held on campus. This year, Georgia Tech has different conferences that impacted our classroom scheduling and classes will not be held in the same classroom for all 9 days. You will receive the schedule by early June and staff will show you the classrooms you will be in. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with this scheduling.
Reminder, please meet in the lobby of the John Lewis Student Center (351 Ferst Dr. NW, Atlanta) at 9:00 am so we can show you to your classrooms.
Instruction time begins promptly at 9:00 am daily, Monday-Friday. Please plan to arrive ahead of the start time in order to get settled, especially as our students will be arriving by 9:00 every day. You will have an assigned staff member ("Mentor") for your course who will be assisting you with any needs. You will be provided with the name, location, and a visual aide for your classroom location(s) in an email in advance.
All classrooms are equipped with projectors, Wi-Fi, and a whiteboard. We advise you to use your own laptop since the classrooms do not contain these. Students will come with their own laptop and most likely a smartphone.
Please come prepared with any necessary printouts/photocopies for your sessions. This is a reimbursable cost.
Should you require any specialized supplies or materials, please submit your request to Katie (kbegley@terraeducation.com) prior to June 1st. If you purchase your own supplies without pre-approval, Summer Springboard will not provide reimbursement.
8. Curriculum and Session Content
In advance of the program, the course curriculum and all supporting documents will be shared with you via Dropbox or a Google Drive folder. If you are creating your own curriculum, please remember to use this slide deck (you will need to make a copy) for your daily slides.
We highly recommend you download any materials to your computer or flash drive/USB stick to mitigate any unforeseen technology glitches that may occur.
9. Closing out the Session
You are a huge part of the Summer Springboard program and we thank you in advance for your hard work. Instructors have a significant impact on our students' experience on campus.
All instructors are required to write a reference letter for their students. You do not need to create one for each student, we will be mail merging from the template. You are welcome to use a generic template if you choose. You will need to download, customize with information related to the course and excursions, sign, and return to kbegley@terraeducation.com in Word or Google Doc format. Please only edit the information in red font, we will be merging all other information for the students.
Please use the below invoice template (download first, then modify and save) and send it to kbegley@terraeducation.com by August 10th. We have a maximum 30 day of payment once you submit your invoice.
Invoice Template - to be completed upon the end of your summer teaching. You will need to make a copy as this is a template.
10. Contacting me and schedule
Do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone 973.647.9232 with any questions leading up to program, during, or after. I will be on Georgia Tech's campus starting June 12th for our staff pre-program training, and likely departing on June 19th. Prior the session start date, I will be introducing you to Sha, the Campus Director who will be onsite for the session and she will be your main point of contact for all programming. After the program start date, I will be your main contact for invoicing and payment.
