In our effort to provide a safe and inclusive school climate for all of our learners, the District annually surveys students in grades 3 - 8 to learn about their experiences in school. The students anonymously answer questions about feeling welcomed at school, their sense of fairness about rules and consequences, the frequency in which they observe and experience kind and unkind actions, adult responses to problems they report, and much more. The information collected from our students guides decision-making on school practices and programs and is one of several ways we monitor school climate indicators.
The student survey was developed in collaboration with Stan Davis, author, researcher, and consultant to schools, and was based on the tenets of the Wingspread Declaration.
