Parenting is the process of fostering and supporting the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of a child from infancy to adulthood. As parents, we work to ensure the health and safety of our children, to teach them about the cultural values, community and world around them, and to teach them the knowledge and skills they will need to be happy and productive adults. The parent-child relationship is the most fundamental, nurturing, and protective relationship of our lives.
"Good parenting helps foster empathy, honesty, self-reliance, self-control, kindness, cooperation, and cheerfulness. It also promotes intellectual curiosity, motivation, and desire to achieve. It helps protect children from developing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, anti-social behavior, and alcohol and drug abuse."
