I will be using a microphone to detect the sound levels of RISD's pigeon coop over the course of the day. I want to detect their 'coo-ing' noises- and I think detecting overall sound will be be able to measure these noises decently accurately. I will also -possibly- be using an ultrasonic distance sensor to detect the pigeons' movement in and out of their main entrance. I'm hoping to use the data I gather to see what the relationship between these (sound and movement) are.
The two following sketches show two locations in which I can plant my sensor/switch. I am leaning toward hanging my sensor- putting it toward the middle of the pigeon coop and thus helping it to better detect sound.Â
The following sketch is just a sketch of the main entrance of the coop. I'm still figuring out how/where I would secure the ultrasonic distance sensor.
