Description:
Capturing sound does not work. Not the internal microphone or the microphone jack on the side of the machine.
Analysis:
The sound is supported under Linux but due to the implementation of the sound card, the input features don't appear to work at all.
This isn't a regression as experienced by some other implementations of this same sound card.
There are reports all over the Internet about various hacks working but I have not found one that works.
Solutions:
Immediate:
I have specified the sound driver to use the same settings as the Fujitsu Lifebook which at the very least allows for headphones to be plugged in and work.
Long Term:
Continue trying out various hacks. Wait for the problem to be solved by the Ubuntu team or a combination of the ALSA and Kernel teams.
