There are a couple of different ways of doing this with the touch pad.
The default behaviour is to use "edge-scrolling". This means that you can use a single finger on the right hand side of the touchpad to scroll up and down a page (see fig. 1).
fig 1.
Of course, we can change things. If you're used to the Macintosh way of doing things with a 2 finger scroll, we're able to do this as well. Unfortunately, there's no graphical ways of doing this. This doesn't matter too much - we can work around it.
To enable two finger scrolling (and disable edge scrolling):
Go to the Menu
Select "System".
Look for the "Start Up Applications" icon and click on it.
Click on the Add Button.
In Name enter "Two Finger Scrolling".
Under command, type in (all one line):
synclient VertTwoFingerScroll=1 HorizTwoFingerScroll=1 EmulateTwoFingerMinW=1 EmulateTwoFingerMinZ=48 VertEdgeScroll=0
Under Comment, type in "Enables two finger scrolling and disables edge scrolling"
Click on Close.
Log out and the log back in.
What if I want to disable two finger scrolling again?
Follow steps 1-3 above.
Look for "Two Finger Scrolling" in the list and un-check the check box beside it.
Click on close.
