The Virtualbox Image is intended for teachers who already have a laptop. Given the cost of the netbook, it is not implied that teachers will get a netbook as a part of the Manaiakalani project and this will either have to be:
Brought by the teachers themselves.
Arrangements made by the individual school.
Thus, we need a way of running the Manaiakalani build on top of the teachers current laptops so they are able to engage with students within the same environment.
In general, the build is no different than those on the laptop except for the following packages:
virtualbox-ose-guest-dkms
virtualbox-ose-guest-x11
virtualbox-ose-guest-utils
The plymouth splash screen is disabled as this causes issues in the virtual machine when shutting down.
In fact, to ease the creation of images, it is proposed that netbook images are now made using virtualbox and the netbook only used when dealing with hardware specific issues.
