Food for Learning

The following foods are of the type that help children to grow strong, be healthy and learn well

Note:

Pt England is a Silver Award winner from the National Heart Foundation, as a Health Promoting School.

Breakfast:

Cereal, bread, fruit, milk

Morning Tea

fruit, bread, biscuits (crackers, small cookies), cheese yoghurt

Lunch:

bread, crackers, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, meat, rice, eggs, spreads such as jam, peanut butter, vegemite etc.

Drinks:

Water is the best drink for school

Fruit juice is OK as long as it isn’t a sports or energy drink with lots of additives.

Snacks:

One small snack packet of potato chips is fine as a part of a healthy lunch from home

Tuck Shop Food:

All food sold at school is approved by the Heart Foundation

Please DON’T bring the following foods to school:

  • Fizzy drinks of any kind

  • Large cookies

  • Large packets of chips

  • Meat pies

  • $2.00 packs

  • Cheezels

  • Twisties

  • Roll-ups (Roll-Ups stick to teeth for a long time after they have been eaten)

  • Sports Drinks

Role Modelling

Teachers need to model the things we are asking the children to do.

SUNSMART

Children must wear the uniform hat @ interval, lunchtimes and during outdoor activities during Terms 1 and 4, otherwise they must stay in the Walkway the Street or the Breeze

Teachers must model this behaviour.
