A Valentine’s Dance should be romantic and have dancing...right? Well, if you call that texting each other and sitting in folding chairs in circles around the room, then the Valentine’s Dance on February 9th was awesome! DJ Romeo had prizes for best dancers and in order to get any, he had to have a dance off. Is this a prediction for what the future brings? Statistics have shown that attendance at school dances has declined drastically over the past 10 years. Proms and Homecomings have gone from around 800 attendees to roughly 26 attendees 9 years later. Are school dances a thing of the past? Will schools have an alternative to dances? What about all of the pomp that is related to dances and getting ready for them and finding the perfect dress and date? Is this disappearing? Why is it disappearing now though? Is it because of cell phones and computers….they have been around for quite awhile?
