ENP23: English Projects 2025
ENP23: English Projects 2025
In ENP23, you design your learning pathway. You choose your theme, your texts, and your assessments. You work toward the same Level 2 and Level 3 NCEA English standards. Your teacher will act as a facilitator, not a director, guiding you when needed, but expecting you to plan your own checkpoints, meet your own deadlines, and keep yourself on track.
If you often miss checkpoints and need frequent reminders from your teacher or LA, this course is probably not the right fit for you. Your success depends on your ability to manage your time, sustain focus, and produce high-quality work independently.
Possible opportunities to extend your learning beyond the classroom include events such as the Auckland Writers Festival, the Auckland Art Gallery, and guest speaker sessions.
If you are entering Year 12 or 13 and want a high-level English course that rewards passion, independence, and academic rigour, ENP23 could be your launchpad to university and beyond.
Haere mai and welcome to English Projects!
In this course, you're in the driver’s seat – setting your own pace and following paths that truly interest you. Just remember to keep an eye on time management!
Along the way, you’ll hit Momentums, quick check-ins to keep the energy high and drive on track.
To kick things off, plan your path by selecting the Achievement Standards you aim to complete, and choose a novel to dive into (non-negotiable!). Then, it’s up to you: read, watch, or listen to whatever fuels your curiosity and passion.
Ready to hit the road?
As you drive toward success, each Momentum station represents a key milestone in your learning journey, aligned with one of our school norms. When you reach a station, its flag is raised high, signalling your achievement and progress. So, drive forward through each station, raising your flags high as you progress toward the finish line!
Here’s how the flags mark your journey:
Arrive at the Pathfinder momentum (end of Week 3, Term 1) by choosing your novel, picking a critical lens, and mapping out your path. Starting your journey is all about being bold and creative; hence, the Pūkeko Flag is raised, celebrating your innovative start.
Next up, is the Gearshift momentum. Arrive here (end of Week 8, Term 1) by completing your first UE Literacy Assessment. Tackling this milestone requires reflection and a growth mindset; hence, the Mokoroa Flag is raised, recognising your willingness to grow.
At the Turbo Boost momentum, you’ve aced a second UE Literacy Assessment (arrive here between the end of Term 1 and Week 2, Term 2). Persevering through this challenge shows grit and determination; hence, the Kahikatea Flag is raised, honouring your resilience.
Arrive at the Cruise Control momentum (Week 6, Term 2) by staying on track with your progress. Keeping steady and aligned with your goals reflects your commitment to the learning community and shared success. Hence, the Waka Flag is raised to celebrate your focus and contribution.
Reach the Milestone momentum when you complete additional assessments (between end of Term 2 and 1st Week of Term 3). Applying your prior knowledge and making connections drives your progress; hence, the Pūngawerewere Flag is raised, acknowledging your ability to utilise what you’ve learned.
You get an award certificate too!
As you steer towards your exam entry you are arriving at the Navigator momentum (Week 2, Term 3). Strategic decision-making reflects your curiosity and careful planning; thus, the Kea Flag is raised, celebrating your thoughtful inquiry.
Finally, hit the Finish Line momentum (Week 10, Term 3) when you successfully pass your mock exams, signalling that you are fully prepared for the final exam, having mastered all required skills. Reaching this level of readiness often involves collaboration and support. The Harakeke Flag is raised here, symbolising shared success and mutual respect.
