Reading &. Writing Resources

Writing Process. (5 stages)

Revising (the big things)

This happens write after you finish your rough draft.

You're looking for organization and wording here, NOT spelling and punctuation.

You may remove large chunks of your writing. You'll move things around. You'll change your word choices.

Editing (the little things)

This happens write after you complete your revised draft.

You're looking for spelling errors, homonym errors, punctuation errors, indentation, double-spacing (if required), and putting your work into its final format as requested by the teacher or professor.

Get at least three people to look over this draft: we all notice different things.

Also, read your paper aloud--you'll notice more errors that way.
