All donated digital content, services, or tools for use at the building or district level must complete the **district review and approval process** before acceptance and deployment.
OKCPS often receives offers of donated technology through DonorsChoose, grants, and community organizations. While appreciated, donations must:
Meet district standards for compatibility and security
Be sustainable for long-term support and licensing
Avoid creating additional risk to student data or network security
The district may decline donations that do not meet these requirements.
Schools or organizations that accept donated technology without prior IT approval are responsible for:
Ensuring devices are tagged in the OKCPS asset system
Verifying proper licensing and compliance with legal standards
Providing technical support and maintenance
Meeting student data compliance requirements (FERPA, COPPA, etc.)
Disposing of equipment responsibly at end of life
While many staff use Android phones and district devices such as Newline panels run on Android, OKCPS IT does not provide full support for Android, Kindle, or other Android-based operating systems as instructional devices. These cannot be connected to the OKCPS network for classroom use.
